ACHERON VAULT · BACKUP READINESS · EARLY ACCESS

Your backup exists. But will it restore?

Best for: Teams who cannot prove backups restore under real conditions.

Backups run on schedule. Nobody has documented evidence they recover when it matters.

Acheron Vault spins up an ephemeral sidecar, performs a real restore against your backup target, and returns timestamped proof of recoverability — not just proof of file existence.

Controlled beta · PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB · FREE → TEAM → BUSINESS tiers · no credit card for beta access

A backup you have never tested is a liability, not an asset.

Most teams have backups scheduled. Very few have verified that those backups actually restore — under realistic conditions, at scale, on a clock. Ransomware, accidental drops, and silent corruption all arrive before you have time to test.

File-exists confirmation

Standard backup tools confirm a file landed in your bucket. They do not confirm the file is intact, the credentials still work, or the restore procedure completes in your RTO window.

Untested restore paths

The first time many teams test a restore is during an actual incident — when every minute of downtime is measurable revenue or regulatory exposure.

Silent corruption

Compressed or encrypted backups can corrupt silently. Without a real restore verification, you will not know until the moment you need the data most.

Audit gaps

Compliance frameworks increasingly require evidence that backups are recoverable, not just that they run on a schedule. Screenshots of cron logs do not satisfy auditors.

Real restore. Documented proof.

Acheron Vault uses an ephemeral sidecar architecture. Nothing writes back to your production environment. The restore runs in isolation, the result is validated, and the report lands in your dashboard.

Connect your backup target

Point Acheron Vault at your backup storage — S3-compatible, GCS, Azure Blob, or a self-hosted path. Credentials are encrypted at rest and never echoed from the API.

Ephemeral sidecar restore

Acheron Vault spins up an isolated sidecar of the target database engine, performs a real restore from your backup file, and validates row counts and structural integrity against a configurable schema fingerprint.

Timestamped proof report

Pass or fail, the result is documented: restore duration, validation checks, engine version, backup age, and operator identity — everything an auditor or incident responder needs.

Schedule or trigger on events

Run on a schedule, or trigger a verification automatically in response to infrastructure events via Charon Gate — for example, immediately after a major database migration completes.

Acheron Vault in the infrastructure loop.

Acheron Vault is the starting point. As your infrastructure matures, the other two products extend what it can respond to.

Charon Gate — event-driven verification

Instead of relying on fixed cron schedules, Charon Gate lets you trigger Acheron Vault verification runs based on real infrastructure events: after a deployment pipeline completes, after a database migration, or when a provider signals a change. Charon Gate's BullMQ architecture ensures no verification trigger is dropped, even under high traffic.

Blackglass — the closed loop

When Blackglass detects an unauthorized configuration change on one of your Linux hosts, it can fire a signed event to Charon Gate. Charon Gate queues the alert and simultaneously triggers Acheron Vault to run a backup health check as a precautionary measure — so your team has both an incident alert and a fresh recoverability report at the same moment.

Common questions

What is backup readiness verification?

Most backup tools confirm the backup file was written. Acheron Vault goes further: it spins up an ephemeral sidecar, performs a real restore, validates the result, and produces a timestamped report. If the restore fails, you know before an incident forces the question.

Which databases does Acheron Vault support?

PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB in the initial release. Additional targets are on the roadmap. Contact us if a specific engine is blocking your evaluation.

Does the sidecar touch my production environment?

No. The ephemeral sidecar runs in an isolated environment with no write path back to your production systems. It only reads from your backup storage, restores into isolation, and tears itself down after validation completes.

When is Acheron Vault generally available?

Acheron Vault is in controlled beta. A small number of teams are running it against their staging databases in exchange for early access to the Team tier and direct input on the roadmap. Contact us to join the beta.
